    Unified Armed Forces

On 1 Feb 68 the Canadian Army, Navy, and Air Force were merged into the Canadian Armed Forces.

Should the US military follow suit?

Pros: a large savings of money. By having all forces under one command - there would be less duplications. For example - instead of Army Regs, Navy Regs, Air Force Regs, Marine Regs -..... All training schools would be consolated. Why have seperate supply systems, ect...

The US Navy has been trying for years to be the Unified Force. They say they have the Navy, Air Force and an Army (Marines) so they claim that they are a Unified Force. But the truth is the Marines are fighting a political battle for their very existence. Why? Because their mission is antiquated. There are those in Government who want to keep them as Embassy Guards. Do you remember when we sent troops to Haiti. The Navy Troop ships that showed up weren't carrying Marines, they were loaded with Soldiers of the US Army. It was an experiment to see how well the US Army can deploy via sea.

What I see on the horizon is the Air Force becoming merged with the US Army again. Why do I say that, because the Greens (Class A) Uniforms are no longer used. The Class A's are now the Dress Blues and the Blouse (shirt) worn with the Blues and Class B's is a very light Blue. Green dress is out.
